Infelizmente o medo é o melhor veículo para perpetuar a (des)cultura do ódio, da xenofobia e da ignorância. Destila-se agora por ai comentários bárbaros e repugnantes contra aqueles que culpa nenhuma do que aconteceu tem. Condenam-se pessoas, credos e religiões, como se tivessemos voltado atrás no tempo e a caça às bruxas fosse novamente legal. Assusta-me toda esta nossa fragilidade e a banalidade do mal. Que a propagação do mal não supere a humanidade de que somos feitos.

O mundo ficou um lugar mais pobre sem este grande senhor! Fica aqui, desde já, um obrigado a alguém que, sendo um ícone da cultura portuguesa e um Nobel da Literatura, elevou o seu nome e o de Portugal.

E porque na despedida as palavras são sempre poucas ou ficam sempre àquem do que sentimos ou queremos exprimir, deixo aqui as suas próprias palavras.
